 X10 Technology

The first concepts of electricity powerline control were developed between 1976-78 by engineers at the X10 design centre in Scotland. In the 1980s, X10 integrated radio frequency and IR remote control technology into its systems. Currently, X10 is working on new radio frequencies, such as the 5.8 GHz and digital solutions, for audio video transmission. X10 protocol is opened, and several international manufacturers have already included it in their products.

 X10’s Global Presence and Worldwide Expansion

While X10’s Design and Engineering units are established in Scotland and Hong Kong, the X10 Group has developed Sales and Marketing subsidiaries in the USA, Asia and Europe. Traditionally, the United States has been X10's largest market. But sales are now expanding rapidly across Europe, Latin America, the Pacific and Australia. Products are tailored to meet the precise specifications and regulations which apply in the different territories. The largest part of X10’s business is with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) for their design and private labelling of goods. X10 also sells its products through various distribution networks, including worldwide wholesalers and globally recognised distribution channels. The newly redesigned state-of-the-art X10 factory in Shenzen, in the Guangdong Province on the Chinese mainland, can now employ a workforce of 6,000, and encompasses a massive 21,000m2 area. X10 produces well over 1 million finished products per month within a scope of 600 different product lines.
