Nothing irritates me more that wandering around my 2 story house, to switch on/off lights or other domestic appliances. And unfortunately, I must do this exercise on many occasions :

Indeed, I must check several times each day that the children have not left their bedroom lamps or the bathroom lights turned on after their departure.

• When I come back by car, it is not very easy to reach the light switch, especially when I am carrying a lot of provisions.

• In my sitting room, there are many table lamps, with no centralised control, and so I have to turn them on/ off one by one several times each day.

• The worse situation concerns the front door lamp. The switch is really too close to the door, so I cannot adequately check who knocks at the front door. I would feel more secure if I could see outside from the first floor windows.

• Last month, my husband twisted his ankle, and could not move easily in the house. So I decided to leave the main lights turned on the whole day while I was at work, and the electricity bill increased !

Now thanks to X10 Smart Mini-Controller, I control the most useful lamps of my home from my bedside. It consists of a little desktop module, plugged into any standard socket. After a very simple set-up, the module sends orders to all the electrical appliances, already plugged into an X10 Module, using the 220 volts network. No need for extra wires ! Now I can turn on/off an appliance, or dim/ bright a lamp remotely. It is also possible to turn off all types of electrical appliances, just by pressing one button.

 Even more, I can launch the same actions with my X10 Audio/Video remote control. For example, if I wish to turn off the chandelier while watching a film, I just press  the “X10 mode “ on my remote control, then the unit code of the light, and finally “channel –“ key to switch off the lamp. The remote control sends RF messages to the Mini-Controller, which converts them into a PLC signals. This way, I benefit from another centralised control point, which is completely “mobile”.

 You can’t imagine how much easier it is to run my home. And because it is completely compatible with any X10 module, I will extend the automation to my electric shutters very soon.
