For her 20th birthday,
my niece wanted to organise a big party, with 60 guests.
She wanted to create a special mood during the buffet,
with musical effects and games. At about 10 pm, people
would be invited to dance.
The problem was the room size: 60 guests
could not fit in the same room, and would have to be spread
into 3 different places : the living room, the dining room
and the garden. A music system in each place would create
too much noise, and anyway, my niece did not have 3 complete
A/V equipment sets. On the other hand, people far away
from the Hi Fi would be missing the fun.
On speaking with the disk seller, my niece
discovered there was a very simple solution to her problem
: X10 2.4 GHz Speaker Link. This product allows the transmission
of any music from an Audio / Video source to another pair
of Hi Fi speakers, without any additional wiring. The 2.4
GHz passes through the walls, so it is possible to spread
the music all over a house, in several places, as many
times as they are additional speakers. You do not need
to duplicate your complete Hi Fi system, old speakers are
enough. To get such a result, you just need a couple of
video senders. A transmitter is plugged into an Audio /
Video source, for example a CD player, and the receiver
is connected to a second pair of Hi Fi speakers, located
in another room. If you wish to transmit the music to several
pairs of speakers, just add receivers in the same proportion.
In the years 1980, many people changed their
old microgroove disk player to a CD appliance. At this
time, most also upgraded their speakers to get a better
sound quality. In many homes, there are old pairs
of speakers which are now useless. X10 speaker link is
a good way to recycle them in a very simple and funny manner.
This is what my clever niece did ! On adopting
the X10 system, she managed to spread the same music into
various rooms, without hurting any ears or disturbing the
neighbours. The upbeat sounds of the disk jockey could
be followed by everybody ! Every thing was perfectly synchronised.
Thanks to a X10 RF Universal remote control, my niece could
also control the CD player from any place, i.e. modify
the volume, change tracks, etc...
Spreading sound is just the first step.
X10 2.4 GHz video senders are also able to send images,
from a TV or a PC to another screen. My niece already plans
to organise real time projections during her 21st birthday
celebration !
